The sends requests through a logistics network to maintain item stock or run multi-step recipes.
For where gauges fit in a storage build, see Storage setup.
Linking to a network
Gauges do not link through the UI.
- Place a on a (see Stock Links).
- Click that with a in hand.
- Up to four can occupy one link block.
Setting the monitored item
- Put the item in the gauge filter slot, or
- Set the item in the gauge UI.
After the item is set, the main UI opens: target stock, address, promise options, and (in recipe mode) input panels.
Addresses
Set an address in the UI so requested packages route to the right belt, workshop, or port. If left empty, packages ship unaddressed and follow whatever unlabeled routing your line uses.
Match addresses to your unpack zone or workshop labels.
Restocker mode (blue, on Packager)
Place the gauge on a face. Blue coloring indicates restocker mode.
| Behavior | Detail |
|---|---|
| Monitors | Inventory connected to that only |
| Triggers | When count falls below Value Settings target |
| Requests | Filtered item from the network to the set address |
| Send amount | Enough to reach target (plus optional extra stacks in UI) |
Best for local stock counts: with Sophisticated Storage, a restocker gauge on the that touches the inventory (connector column, Controller, or IO block) reports accurate counts. Gauges reading a distant Controller GUI can miscount large modded inventories.
Always-send trick
Set an address that does not fill the inventory (e.g. a dummy workshop address). When the package arrives and the promise expires, the gauge requests again: useful when an item should only flow to one destination on the network.
Recipe mode (brass, wall-mounted)
Place the gauge on any surface (not on a ). Brass coloring indicates recipe mode.
| Behavior | Detail |
|---|---|
| Monitors | Stock of the filtered item across the whole network |
| Triggers | When network stock is below the Value Settings target |
| Requests | Can pull multiple ingredient types via linked input gauges |
| Output | Sends crafted/output items to its set address |
Recipe input panels
- Open the recipe gauge UI.
- Click the + icon and right-click another to add it as an input.
- Colored arrows show connections: green when the output target is met, dark blue when requesting, light blue when inputs are promised, gray when inactive, blinking red when an input is missing on the network.
Chain any number of gauges as inputs or outputs for complex factory lines.
Promises
When a gauge requests items, the network holds a promise on that stock until the package arrives or the promise expires. Promises prevent oversending the same item to multiple destinations.
| Setting | Effect |
|---|---|
| Expiry time | From “never” up to 30 minutes in the gauge UI |
| Open promises | Shown in the gauge UI while waiting for delivery |
Example: a restocker targets 128 cobblestone, requests two stacks, then waits until those items appear on the network or the promise times out.
If requests duplicate or stall, shorten promise expiry or confirm packages are reaching the correct address.
Redstone and displays
From the gauge UI you can attach:
- Redstone Links: send when stock is at/above target (output mode), or block requests while powered (input mode).
- : show item count, gauge status, and item name on display boards (checkmark at target, up arrow when promises are open).
Quick comparison
| Restocker (blue, on ) | Recipe (brass, wall) | |
|---|---|---|
| Watches | One inventory | Entire network |
| Typical use | Keep a column or machine buffer filled | Auto-craft or maintain network-wide stock |
| Placement | face | Any block face |
